Our annual Biomarkers of Aging Conference unites a global community of geroscience solvers and innovators to establish and advance reliable biomarkers of aging to measure the safety and efficacy of longevity interventions.
2024 by the Numbers:
Increased Reach and Impact
Nearly 500 attendees from over 30 countries and 28 US States attended, with two days of cutting-edge programming.
Inspiring Talks
Featured 48 talks by leading scientists, industry experts, and top poster presenters, sharing insights to support the entire field.
Poster Presentations & Poster Flash Talks
Over 50 flash talks and 100 posters showcased research from prestigious universities and trailblazing companies.
Biomarkers of Aging Challenge Phase I and Phase II Winners Announced
The Challenge aims to generate the most accurate predictive models for aging biomarkers, including mortality and multi-morbidity. Phase I and II winners were awarded a total of $100,000 USD.
The Longevity Study Pilot Launched
The Longevity Study is a longitudinal multi-modal deep-profiling human health study, dedicated to understanding how aging affects us at molecular and functional level. This study contributes substantially to our understanding of how our bodies change as we age and which molecular changes drive functional decline. We reached several major milestones: 1) launching our Study and 2) achieving our target of 100 participants and collected 300+ samples.
Sponsorship Impact
With the support of 30 mission-aligned sponsors and partners, we supported meaningful collaborations and long-term ROI for all involved.
Community Momentum
New connections and collaborations formed, lasting friendships developed, and familiar faces reconnected, all sharing a passion for advancing the science of longevity.
Building on the success of our inaugural 2023 Symposium, the 2024 Conference elevated the scale and impact of our annual event by offering a comprehensive view of the aging biomarkers R&D landscape, addressing critical gaps, and driving meaningful advancements.
To ensure openness and confidentiality, Day 1 talks were unrecorded, while Day 2 talks were made publicly available. You can find those talks below.
Day 2 Talks are Live!
Day 2 focused on the translational and clinical dimensions of the field, fostering discussions and collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and entrepreneurs. Talks are ordered by their Day’s line up.
Biomarkers of Aging Challenge Phase II Winners Announced
Congratulations to the winners!
Phase II pushed the boundaries of aging research by asking participants to develop cutting-edge proteomic models predicting mortality risk.
🥇 1st Place: "Team Kauai"
Comprised of Jakob Träuble, Korbinian Träuble, and Raphael Lermer, Team Kauai developed a novel proteomic model that outperformed the GrimAgeV2 epigenetic clock. Their work sets a new standard for innovation in aging biomarker research and provides significant advancements in predicting mortality and age-related diseases.
"The contributions of Jakob, Korbinian, and Raphael reflect exactly the kind of pioneering thinking we aimed to foster with this Challenge. Their approaches have set a new standard for innovation in aging biomarker research."
Team Kauai also received $40,000 USD in awards!
🏆 About the Challenge & Why Mortality Prediction Matters
The Biomarkers of Aging Challenge aims to generate the most accurate predictive models for aging biomarkers, including mortality and multi-morbidity. Mortality is a primary outcome for aging biomarkers due to its clear, defined nature, and reliable prediction models can pave the way for better aging assessments and longevity interventions.
The competition leveraged a high-quality dataset featuring proteomic profiles, DNA methylation data, and health outcomes from over 500 individuals. These datasets enable the development of predictive models for chronological age, mortality risk, and future disease incidence.
Special thanks to our wonderful friends and partners at Alamar Biosciences for playing a key role in supporting this Challenge by providing their high-sensitivity NULISAseq™ immunoassay panels, enabling the accurate and detailed proteomic analysis necessary for this work.
